BikeNWA Launches Bike Match Program to Get More People on Bikes Affected by COVID19

BikeNWA is excited to say Northwest Arkansas has joined the national bike match movement, started by Transportation Alternatives in New York City, to provide a platform to connect people that have bikes to donate with people who need a bike to ride. Bikes are essential transportation for so many people who need to get to work or to run errands, as well as a way to exercise, spend time with family, or recharge mentally.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Bike Match to Northwest Arkansas during these perilous times. Now more than ever, having access to transportation is critical to fulfilling basic human needs. By matching people with bikes to individuals who need bikes, we look forward to providing a critical niche in providing transportation access. For individuals who are looking for a bike or have a running bike to donate, please check out #BikeMatchNWA,” shares Paxton Roberts, Executive Director of BikeNWA..

Since this is a peer-to-peer matching service for individual bikes, if you represent a group or an organization that needs a fleet of bikes or have ones to donate, be sure and reach out to Pedal-It-Forward NWA. For years, they have done an incredible job of handing out thousands of bikes a year across the region to groups and community organizations.

How it Works

  • If you need a bike or have a bike in good working order to donate, fill out our online form.
  • If you match with someone, we’ll send you an email with information about how to make the exchange.
  • Individuals will determine a time to exchange. (Don’t forget to observe cleaning and social distancing guidelines!)
  • Take a picture and send it to info@bikenwa.org and post it online with #BikeMatchNWA to help spread the word.
  • Happy (and safe) riding
